Just two people that love to host and feed our friends in our cozy flat in London.
The Cook
Jia Yong (aka J.Y.)
J.Y. had a love for food from the very beginning (as do all Malaysians), with a deadly weakness for carbs. He learnt how to cook egg fried rice from mum in his teens and never looked back.
Since then, J.Y. has cooked for friends and loved ones, preferring simple ingredients handled with care, turning them into meals worth sharing around the table. While new cuisines are explored frequently, he tends to go back to cuisines near to him – Peranakan, Chinese (Cantonese, Sichuan, Shanghainese), Malay and Italian (pasta = noodles, don’t @ me).
Through food, he often tries to recreate a feeling that throws him back to a dish, moment, or memory that has left an indelible mark – and hopes to bring joy to the people he feeds.
The Host(est with the mostest)
Kei
Kei obsessed with waitressing from a very young age, which came in handy for my parents when they needed an extra pair of small hands to help them with dinners.
She’s worked in a Mayfair Italian restaurant and Tokyo fine-dining – learning what “attention to detail” meant (using a ruler to measure the spaces between cutlery was intense!). But no matter the occasion, it simply boils down to taking care of people.
So when you come over, she hopes to make you feel welcomed, cared for and stuffed with excellent food.
